This paper was co-authored by Bruce Marler, CTO of WooshCom Corporation and Dr. Mukta Kar, Senior Member of Technical Staff of CableLabs. It gives a technical overview of various baseband MPEG-2 interfaces that are used to communicate MPEG data packets between co-located pieces of MPEG equipment. It reviews such interfaces as DVB-ASI, DVB-SSI, DVB-SPI; IEEE-1394 (Firewire); SMPTE 310M; SMPTE 305M; Motorola's DHEI; Terayon (formerly DiviCom) M2S, & M2P; and Scientific Atlanta SWIF. The article is available in pdf file format as it appeared in two successive issues of CableLabs' Specs Technology newsletter.
