For Immediate ReleaseDenver, Colorado – June 8th, 2007 Download PDFWooshCom® Unveils Battery Replacement Kit for IRT-1000 & IRT-2000WooshCom® Corporation is announcing the introduction of a battery replacement kit for Motorola IRT-1000 and IRT-2000 receiver/modulators. The new Model BK-1000 kit is designed to extend the life of IRTs, whose aging batteries are starting to cause reliability issues. The product will be on display at CableTec Expo at booth # 2340 (just inside the Food Court entrance at Hall C), where technicians can install one first hand.
According to Bruce Marler, President and CTO of WooshCom Corporation, “Our IRT Battery Kit is unique in that it is the first such kit designed to be easily installed by a technician at the headend. It can be installed on a live IRT that is still authorized and passing a video feed to customers. That way the headend staff doesn’t have to go through the painful and time-consuming de-authorization and re-authorization process. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes per IRT to perform the replacement. Our customers save the replacement cost of a new receiver and get the enhanced reliability of new batteries without having to ship the IRT anywhere.” The batteries in the replacement kit have a 50% higher capacity than the original batteries thus ensuring that the IRTs will maintain their encryption keys for at least as long a time period as their original batteries provided for. “I don’t think people realize that if the IRT loses its encryption keys during a power outage, it must then be shipped to a factory authorized service center for an expensive repair to restore them. You don’t just recover the keys with a phone call! It is not a pleasant surprise to get.” Says Mr. Marler. The patent pending, user-installable approach of the battery kit can save a cable operator close to $2,300 per IRT in replacement costs and $900 in repair costs. Mr. Marler states, “Custom plastics were designed to make these battery cards self-guiding and locking so they will not come loose if the IRT is moved. A surprising amount of engineering effort was invested into this seemingly simple battery kit in order to provide for safety and ease of installation as well as to make it virtually impossible to install incorrectly.” About WooshCom® © 2007 WooshCom® Corporation |
